Corrections Policy

If a figure, formula or explanation on Inflation Money is wrong, we want to know. This page explains how to report it and what we do with the report.

How to report an error

Email [email protected]. Include the page URL, the figure or sentence you believe is wrong, and a link to the source that supports the correction if you have one. Screenshots help when a clock or chart value is involved, because those values change over time.

What happens next

The editorial team checks the reported figure against the original source, such as the BLS, Treasury or FRED series listed on the methodology page. If the figure is wrong, we fix it. If the error came from a bug in the data pipeline or a formula, we fix the code so the same error does not recur on other pages.

How corrections are noted

Where a correction is material, meaning it changes a conclusion a reader could reasonably have drawn, we add a note on the page describing what changed and update the page's last-updated date. Minor fixes such as typos or formatting are made without a note. Clock values that re-anchor after a scheduled data refresh are not corrections; that is how the clocks are designed to work.

We aim to respond within a few business days. This is a target, not a guarantee.
